Today, the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team made history by losing the SEC Championship game to the Alabama Crimson Tide. In doing so, they have made it to where an SEC will not be in the college football playoffs…for the first time ever. I know all the SEC fans are chanting S-E-C and screaming that it would be a crime if an SEC team isn’t in, but when you take off your bias glasses, you have to admit that the conference doesn’t belong. Currently there is only one spot for a one loss team. UGA can’t fill that spot since there’s a one loss team that beat them; the current SEC champ, Alabama. So, Bama should go? Nope. There is a one loss Power 5 conference winner out there, Texas. Who is the only team to beat Bama this year? Yep, you got it, Texas. How can you send Bama over the only team to beat them? You can’t The only shot the SEC has is if Florida State loses to Louisville.
When the committee makes its decision later tonight, it should look like this:
- Michigan
- Washington
- Florida State
- Texas
I’m seeing people saying Ohio State should be there. Well, maybe if the Buckeyes could have won their conference, they’d be here, but since they didn’t even qualify to play in the B1G conference title game, they didn’t earn it.
