FOOTBALL IS BACK!!! Training camp continues for 30 teams and a pre-season game was played. Actual FOOTBALL has arrived. It doesn’t count but it was still football.
Hall of Fame Game
The Hall of Fame Game was early this season. Last year it was cancelled due to field problems and hasn’t received much fan attendance in years past. The game was moved to Thursday night from Sunday night.
The Cowboys beat the Cardinals 20-18 in the Hall of Fame game. Not many starters played for each team but a few players like Bryon Jones, Darren McFadden, Andre Ellington, Robert Nkemdiche and rookie Budda Baker got into the action.
Around the League
Ryan Tannehill injured his left knee. This would be a big blow to the Dolphins if he is hurt in the long term. Tannehill had no structural damage but they are still running tests. Second year WR Sterling Shephard was hurt for the Giants.
Tom Brady is 40. Let’s see if he still has the magic.
DT Roy Miller signed with the Chiefs and RB Taiwan Jones signed with Buffalo after the Raiders cut him. Kicker Mike Nugent was added to New York.
Camps
The Lions had their 4th practice and second in pads. TJ Lang and Tavon Wilson returned to practice for Detroit. Ansah, Cornelius Washington, Taylor Decker, Sam Martin, and Eric Ebron remain out. The Lions DBs were looking good and Greg Robinson is winning the LT battle so far. TJ Jones has the advantage in the 4th WR competition with Jared Abbrederis. Jamaal Agnew is winning the return man battle so far. Stafford has looked great and Jake Rudock is winning the number 2 QB spot over rookie Brad Kaaya. Detroit had the day off Thursday and will practice Friday morning.
Ted Thompson said he doesn’t know when he will retire. Trevor Davis is leading the return man battle. The Packers offensive line is looking solid and Rodgers has a connection with Martellus Bennett and Lance Kendricks already.
Laquan Treadwell missed practice Thursday morning. Emmanuel Lemur is battling Edmond Robinson for the weak side linebacker position. Murray and McKinnon are both out for the Vikings still. Riley Reiff has been out since day 1 with back issues. Rodney Adams is leading the kick return battles while Sherels is the top punt returner.
The Bears are too high.
