Cuts
Brandon Flowers, Stevie Johnson and DJ Fluker were all cut by the LA Chargers. Flowers and Fluker have some concussion history so teams should be wary. Flowers has been a good player in the past but Fluker has struggled despite being a first round pick. He moved from right tackle to right guard in the last few seasons. The Chargers cleared 19.3 million in cap space by making these three cuts.
Torrey Smith was cut by the 49ers and the Ravens cut Kendrick Lewis (FS) and Shareece Wright (CB). Smith is a nice speed demon 3rd WR option for teams.
Davon House was cut by the Jaguars and there is mutual interest to be reunited with Dom Capers and the Packers defense.
Chad Greenway retired from the Vikings. He was drafted in the first round in 2006 but really struggled in his final few years at weakside LB for Minnesota. His biggest regret is he never won a Super Bowl. He played for Minnesota and not winning the Super Bowl should be expected.
Joe Reitz (starting guard for the Colts not the cracker) also retired.
Dan Carpenter was cut by Buffalo but not before he hit a miracle kick to allow the Bills to carry Jim Schwartz across Ford Field.
Trade Rumors
Stud corner back Trumaine Johnson is rumored to have interest in trades. The LA Rams franchised him but could trade him if the other team gave up compensation of the Rams choosing and agree to a long term deal with Johnson.
Tenders
Brandon McManus and Todd Davis were given 2nd round tenders by Denver. Andrew Norwell received a 2nd round tender by the Panthers.
Dominique Easley received an original round tender (1.7 million) from the Rams but he was a 1st round pick by the Patriots. A team would have to give up a first for Easley.
Ricardo Allen (FS at 630K) was given an exclusive rights tender by the Falcons. Willie Snead was given the exclusive rights tender by New Orleans for one more cheap year. Mike Gillislee earned 1.7 million tender from the Bills. Bryce Callahan (CB) and Joshua Bellamy (WR) earned one year deals with the Bears.
David Irving was tendered at 615K by the Cowboys. Irving played well down the stretch for the Cowboys at DE/DT.
Adam Thielen received a 2.7 million dollar 2nd round tender to remain with Minnesota. Taylor Gabriel got the second round tender from the Falcons. The speed demon should remain in Atlanta or they will receive a 2nd round pick for him.
Re-Signs
Tight end Jermaine Gresham signed a four year deal with the Cardinals. Gresham is more of a block but got a decent long term deal. Colin Jones (FS) signed a cheap two year deal with Carolina.
James Develin (FB) signed a two year deal to stay in New England.
William Gholston signed a big 5 year 27.5 million dollar deal to remain with Tampa Bay. Over 5 million per year isn’t a bad deal for Gholston.
Jeremy Kerley signed a 3 year 10.5 million deal to remain with the 49ers. Detroit had Kerley in training camp but traded him for practice squad guard Brandon Thomas. Kerley had a nice season for the 49ers but Detroit adding Boldin was the right choice.
Lions re-sign long snapper Don Mulbach. Death. Taxes. Muhlbach. He will compete with 6th round pick Jimmy Landes again at long snapper.
Brandon Marshall and Sebastian Vollmer were cut. The Lions could have some interest in Vollmer. I wonder if the Bears will get Marshall back. Bennett is also a free agent. They could bring the band back together.
Matt Cassel got a two year deal to stay with the Titans behind Mariota.
James Harrison signed a two year deal to finish his career with the Steelers. I’m sure Roger Goodell hates this. Russ Cockrell (CB) also was tendered at 1.7 million for Pittsburgh.
Sean Lee restructured his contract for the Cowboys clearing over 5 million in room. The Cowboys always seem to restructure players.
