Let’s keep ranking shit. Next up his tight end
1.Rob Gronkowski
Hall of famer with a year of rest pairing with Tom Brady again. Gronk should have a monster year in Tampa Bay with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the outside to shift the focus.
2. Jared Cook
Jared Cook is old but had 705 yards and 9 TDs with Drew “Don’t Kneel” Brees last year. One more good year is coming from him in a solid career.
3a. TJ Hockensen
Stud tight end that has high expectations. Typical first year tight end stats and had some injuries but the potential is there to be Gronk-lite with blocking and receiving. Lions have KG and Marvin to take away attention and the running game/run blocking surrounding him should help his blocking.
3b. Irv Smith
311 yards and 2 TDs as rookie for the 2019 2nd round pick. Don’t sleep on Smith to make a jump similar to Hock this year.
3c. Kyle Rudolph
Solid tight end with 367 yards and 6 TDS last year. Taking a step back in yards with Smith in the fold but still a solid player that can block well.
3d. Hayden Hurst
Another former 1st rounder with a change of scenery to Atlanta from Baltimore via trade. Mark Andrews took over in Baltimore so Hurst became expendable. Matt Ryan likes tight ends so watch out for Hurst after a Austin Hooper got a big contract in free agency.
3e. OJ Howard
1st round TE that never put it all together with Tampa. Gronk will steal alot of his snaps but he could have success in 2020.
4a Jimmy Graham
Production has dropped but still has plenty of talent. 447 yards and 3 TDs was disappointing for him in 2019 with Green Bay. He is a Chicago Bear now so that should be interesting.
4b. Jace Sternberger
Potential as a receiver but not a blocker at all. Injury hurt his development but he’ll get plenty of targets from Aaron Rodgers.
4c. Cole Kmet
He is basically a Rudolph cloned drafted by the Bears in Round 2 this year out of Notre Dame. Rookie tight ends don’t produce much but he could show flashes in year 1 and take snaps from Jimmy Graham.
5a. Ian Thomas
That is Carolina’s tight end. He has some receiving skills out but has the most to prove replacing Greg Olsen.
5b Adam Trautman
Saints 3rd round pick from Dayton. Has good size and athleticism but is raw from a small school
5c Cameron Brate
Had some productive years and is a red zone threat. Tampa is loaded with tight ends.
6. Jesse James
FA bust in year 1 for Detroit but has solid production in Pittsburgh with some blocking skills. He will get another shot in Detroit due to cap reasons.
7. Marcedes Lewis
He is a great blocker but poor receiving weapon. He has his role carved out clearly in Green Bay.
Others
Josiah Deguara is listed as an H-back but could flex to tight end at some points. He was an interesting choice for Green Bay and Round 3. We’ll see if he can be a utility man for the Packers. Robert Tonyan should make the roster.
Josh Hill is a blocker only but makes occasional big catch for the Saints from time to time.
Isaac Nauta and Hunter Bryant are more H-backs for Detroit for the 3rd TE spot.
Adam Shaheen is a 2nd round small school bust that becomes Bears 3rd tight end. Demetrius Harris has some experience and will battle with Shaheen for a roster spot. Harris was worst ranked TE in 2019.
Khari Lee is a person for the Falcons that plays tight end.
