NFL Draft Preview: Tight End and Running Back

Analysis

We finish off the offensive side of the FYS positional draft preview with Tight Ends and Running Backs. Hopefully nobody takes any of these in Round 1. Glares at Detroit

Tight End

Top TIER

Trey McBride Colorado State

McBride is a great receiving tight end. A poor mans Hunter Henry. He doesn’t add much as a blocker but should be a Round 2 pick with his athleticism.

Jeremy Ruckert Ohio State

Most complete tight end in this class with good blocking technique and good route runner. Should be a day 2 selection.

Second TIER

Charlie Kolar Iowa State

Good size but not explosive or physical. Day 3 selection.

Greg Dulcich UCLA

Athletic tall tight end but lacks blocking skills. Must work on his explosion off the line. Day 3 pick

Isaiah Likely Coast Carolina

Athletic and good receiver but a small frame. His blocking needs work. Day 3 pick.

Running Back

Top TIER

Kenneth Walker III Michigan State

Low tough to tackle RB with some power. Not a good receiver or blocker though. Round 2 pick. Think JK Dobbins

Breece Hall Iowa State

All around back with some miss ability. Not a fast runner but can do a little bit of everything. Duce Staley and a Round 2 pick

Second TIER

Isaiah Spiller Texas A&M

Thick back with good receiving ability. Makes defenders miss but no long speed. Mile Sanders lite. Round 3 pick

Dameon Pierce Florida

Bowling ball but no acceleration. Round 4

Kyren Williams Notre Dame

Good balance and power with no long speed. JK Dobbins lite. Round 4 or later

Jashaun Corbin Florida State

Twitchy RB but needs better balance. Day 3 pick
