Lions Sign Bears RB Among Other North Moves on Day 2/3 of Free Agency

2023 Free Agency officially began on March 15 at 4PM. The NFC North GMs have been busy over the last few days. Don’t believe me? Read the words below then.

Minnesota Vikings

Vikings

Vikings added two void years to lower Kirk Cousin’s cap hit to 20 million in 2023 saving 16 million in cap space but hitting the cap in the future for Minnesota.

On day 1, Vikings added TE Josh Oliver (3 years 21 million) and OLB Marcus Davenport (1 year 13 million) on day 1.

On day 2/3, Kwefi was able to re-sign center Garrett Bradbury (11th per PFF) 3 years 15.75 million, back-up RB Alexander Mattison (2 years 7 million) and vet min DE Kenny Willekes, vet min TE Ben Ellefson, LS Andrew DePaolia (3 years 4.025 million, backup QB Nick Mullens (2 years 4 million) and kicker Greg Joseph ( 1 year 2 million).

The Vikings lost Patrick Peterson in free agency but replaced him with Bryon Murphy (2 years 17.5 million). Vikings cut Cam Dantzler (2.742 million) for cap space too.

Lions

Lions remained busy after signing Cam Sutton (3 years 33 million) on day . GM Brad Holmes re-signed Alex Anzalone (3 year 18.5 million), NT Isiah Buggs (2 years 4.25 million), DE John Cominsky (2 years 8.25 million), NCB Wil Harris (1 year 2.5 million), RB Craig Reynolds (1 year 1 million) pay cut for Charles Harris (keeping him but saving 2.5 million). Jamaal Williams (3 years 12 million to Saints) and DeShon Elliot (1 year 1.5 million) left in FA.

Day 2 tampering was busy with new signings in CB Emmanuel Mosely (1 year 6 million) and RB David Montgomery (3 year 18 million). Lions revamped CB and have a new power workhorse back.

Packers

Aaron Rodgers announced he is going to the Jets but no deal is set. Jets and Packers have to work out compensation. Allen Lazard left to the Jets at 4 years 44 million already.

Devondre Campbell restructured for 2.4 million in space.

Packers signed Tyler Davis and LS Matthew Orzech (3 years).

Yosh Nijman got a 2nd round tender at 4.3 million. Keisan Nixon deal was really 1 year 4 million with incentives.

Bears

We went over the Bears big moves on day 1 and trade of pick 1 (DJ Moore, Edmunds, Edwards, Nate Davis, Demarcus Walker).

PJ Walker is the Bears backup at 2 year 5 million. They also added Travis Homer at 2 years 4.5 million at RB replacing Montgomery (Lions).

Free agency first wave is over but some big names out there as we wait for the Rodgers deal.
