Big news FYS!
LKP has had/is having/soon will be in the process of having a child. The boy/girl will grow up in the Washington DC area and face a brutal choice: follow the local team, racist name and Dan Snyder and all, or join her father with an infliction of the worst fever of all time and become a fan of the Lions. Life Tru-ly is unfair.
Speaking of unfairness, the miracle of birth also leaves us without the man who, against all odds, has become the rudder of this insane ship. In his absence, somebody has to take control and publish an “article.” Unfortunately for each of you, somehow that person became me. So… wanna talk horse racing?
As the world now knows, Always Dreaming has won the Kentucky Derby. Wisely taken to the lead on a sloppy track, the new king of Louisville ran well and looked the part of a champion. He has already been shipped to Pimlico for the second leg of the triple crown, the Preakness.
Always Dreaming will likely face nine challengers in the Preakness, a decent-size field for the Baltimore track. Among those will be Looking at Lee, a horse who despite an extremely difficult path closed well to take second in the Derby. His run was as gutsy as you are likely to see in horse racing. Add that his father, Looking at Lucky, is a former winner of the Preakness and we have an outside chance of a real horse rivalry. Other repeat runners from the Derby will likely include Classic Empire (fourth in Kentucky), Gunnevera (seventh), and Hence (11th). Its just ten days until we all (and I mean all) pay attention to the ponies once more.
