Week 1 of the 2024 NFL Season is in the books. The entire NFC North wo….wait a minute…wait a minute, three teams in the NFC North won in Week 1. Let’s recap the results and the beautiful Brazilian booty whippin by the Eagles to the Packers.
Packers “at” Eagles in Sao Paolo Brazil on Friday Night on Peacock: 34-29 Eagles
Shootout/sloppy game on a questionable field in Brazil. The Packers forced two early turnovers (McKinney int and fumble) for two short fields. They were only able to kick field goals for a 6-0 lead which would prove to be costly when losing by 5. The Eagles offense woke up and drove 70 yards in 11 plays mainly on Hurts passing. Hurts found prize FA RB Saquan Barkley for the 18-yard TD.
The Packers responded nicely with 70-yard drive in only 5 plays. Two nice 14 and 18 yard runs from Emmanuel Wilson set the tone. Jayden Reed hit a 33 yard end around for the score. Packers back up but the 2 point failed when Josh Jacobs was stuffed. 12-7 Packers
Eagles responded to the Packers TD with another 70-yard TD drive. Jeff Hafley’s new defense had some struggles in the 2nd quarter. Hurts 20 yard to Brown on 3rd and 8 and 25 yarder to Devonta Smith moved the ball. Barkley ran in from 11 yards for the score. 14-12 Eagles.
Packers offense was hot too with another quick 70 play drive. Jordan Love 70 yards to Reed was all that was needed. Eagles responded with a field goal drive to cut the Packer lead to 19-17 to end the half.
Eagles got the ball to start the third and remained hot with a 67-yard TD pass to AJ Brown. Eagles up by 5. Packers were fully a go on offense and a Zach Baun roughing the passer kicked things off on 3rd down. 29 yards to the man Tucker Kraft. 3rd and 9, penalty DPI on Avonte Maddox. Quick Jordan Love pass to Watson for the 2-yard score. Packers back up 2 points now, 26-24.
The offense stopped for both teams in the 3rd quarter after those TDs. 3 and out Eagles, 3 and out Packers, 3 and out Eagles. Jordan Love throws an interception to Reed Blankenship for a short field. The Eagles get the short field and take over with another Barkley TD (his 3rd of the game, lol Giants). 31-26 Eagles.
Packers drive down the field but the new kicker misses a big field goal. Eagles drive into the Packers redzone by Jaire Alexander gets a huge interception saving the game but unwisely brings it out of the end zone The Packers drive 79 yards but run out of gas and get a field goal to cut it to 2 points in the 4th. The Eagles use 7:25 off the clock for long field goal drive and back up 5. 34-29
Packers get the ball but Jordan Love gets wrecked by two Eagles and sprains his MCL in trying to comeback with a miracle. Malik Willis takes over and incomplete and sack on Willis to end the game. Eagles win.
Love 17/34 260 yards 2 TD 1 int and 83 QB rating
Hurts 20/34 278 yards 2 TD 2 ints with 80.3 QB rating
