We analyzed the guards in the NFC North and NFC South, might as well take a look at the centers.
1 Erik McCoy (Saints): 4th ranked center in the league in his rookie year. Saints chose correctly to make him a 2nd round pick in 2019.
2 Frank Ragnow (Lions): 6th ranked center in the league after a solid year at guard in 2018. The Lions 2018 1st round pick will be a stud center for years. Good run blocker and gives up almost nothing in pass protection
3 Corey Linsley (Packers): 7th ranked center who is good in run and pass pro. He has a few average years but has been top 10 in the league three times. The Packers got a good one in a contract year.
4. Alex Mack: Long time stud center and ranked 9th in the league. The old man still has it after being a 1st round pick for Cleveland in 2009. The Falcons are happy to have him but did draft a center in Round 3 in Matt Hennessey to eventually replace him.
5 Ryan Jensen (Bucs): 4th ranked center in 2019 but has several bad years including 2018. He is feast or famine but should excel with Tampa in 2020.
6. James Daniels (Bears): 13th ranked center and can play guard or center. Above average rookie year in 2018 as well for the 2nd round pick.
7. Matt Paradis (Panthers): 22nd ranked center from the Broncos in 2019. Poor in pass pro but a solid run blocker.
8. Garrett Bradbury (Vikings): Vikings 1st round pick in 2019 but he was terrible in pass pro and average at best in run blocking. They are hoping he gets much much better in year. Proof NC State and the Vikings suck really.
Backups:
Beau Benschawel/Russ Bodine for the Lions have potential and Bodine starting experience. Matt Hennessey is 3rd round rookie for the Falcons. Pat Efflein would slide to center for the Vikings if Bradbury got hurt and Brett Jones has experience. Cody Whitehair would do the same for the Bears over undrafted Sam Mustipher. Cesar Ruiz could play center for the Saints if McCoy got hurt and Nick Easton has playing experience too. Tyler Larsen is a vet backup for Carolina. Zach Shackleford is the undrafted backup for the Bucs. Elgton Jenkins could handle center for Packers if needed and Cole Madison is another backup.
The center position is strong in the NFC North and NFC South for the most part.
