2020 NFL Draft First Round Results and Best Day 2 Prospects Available

Analysis

Holy Shit!! Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft was interesting.

Full Round 1 Results

  1. QB Joe Burrow to Bengals

No shocker here. The Bengals got their franchise QB for head coach Zac Taylor. Some noise of Dolphins trying to trade to 1 but the Bengals didn’t Bungle it. 29 year playoff win drought may end at some point now.

  1. DE Chase Young to Redskins

BPA in the draft. New Skins leadership made the right choice. They have 1st round Dline/EDGE players now including Young. This front of Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Ryan Kerrigan, Montez Sweat and Chase Young will bring the heat.

  1. CB Jeff Okudah to Lions

The Lions didn’t get any good trade down offers so they took the best DB on the board. Detroit gets their man coverage stud and replace Slay. Okudah, Trufant, Coleman, Harmon and Tracy Walker is in the top tier of secondaries in the league now. Third former Ohio State player taken in first three picks.

  1. OT Andrew Thomas to Giants

The Giants didn’t get any trade offers and stuck with the Hog Mollies as GM David Gettleman calls offensive linemen. Thomas will slide to Right Tackle and protect Daniel Jones and open holes for Saquan Barkley.

  1. QB Tua Tagolaivalo to Dolphins

Tanked for Tua and they didn’t even have to move up in the draft. The Dolphins get their franchise QB. We’ll see if Tua can stay healthy in 2020 and beyond.

  1. QB Justin Herbert to Chargers

Another franchise QB taken in the draft. The Chargers will have Herbert battle with Tyrod Taylor for the starting spot. Herbert is a good QB but a little inconsistent.

  1. DT Derrick Brown to Panthers

The Panthers get a run stuffer with some great pass rush production. Real great character guy. Good pick.

  1. LB Isaiah Simmons to Cardinals

Arizona adds a swiss-army knife to their defense. He can play ILB, OLB, slot CB and safety. Stud player to add to a budding Cardinals defense.

  1. CB CJ Henderson to Jaguars

The Jaguars replace Jalen Ramsey with this man coverage Florida CB. Henderson is a little small but very sticky in coverage.

  1. OT Jedrick Wills to Browns

The Browns revamped their OTs this offseason. Big money to Right Tackle Jack Conklin in free agency and Wills will be the left tackle protecting Baker Mayfield’s blind side.

  1. OT Mekhi Bechton to Jets

Bechton is a mammoth man and will help the Jets at OT. Free agent George Fant and Bechton will be tasked to protect Sam Darnold.

  1. WR Henry Ruggs III to Raiders from Bears Mack trade

The Raiders always take the speed guy. Surprised he went ahead of Jeudy and Lamb.

  1. OT Tristan Wirfs to Buccaneers

The Bucs trade up one spot with the 49ers and give up a 4th round pick but gain a 7th rounder. Right tackle was a hole and will help protect Mr. Tompa Bay.

  1. DT Javon Kinlaw 49ers

The 49ers move down one spot and replace DeForest Buckner. Kinlaw is a productive penetrating DT.

  1. WR Jerry Jeudy to Broncos

John Elway was very happy to land an Amari Cooper type WR for Denver. Drew Lock has two good WRs again in Sutton and Jeudy.

  1. CB AJ Terrell Clemson to Falcons

Good corner prospect but a bit of a reach for the Falcons. They desperately needed a CB after cutting Desmond Trufant. They got a starter.

  1. WR Cee Dee Lamb to Cowboys

Jerry Jones gets another weapon for Dak. Cooper, Gallup and Lamb can be deadly. Surprised Lamb dropped this far.

  1. OT Austin Jackson to Dolphins from Minkah Fitpatrick trade to Steelers

The Dolphins got Tua now they need to protect him. Austin Jackson could play either tackle spot and was a solid starting OT addition.

  1. CB Damon Arnette to Raiders

The Raiders needed a CB and they reached a bit here. Arnette struggled opposite Okudah at Ohio State at times but does have some starting potential.

  1. EDGE K’Lavon Chiassion to Jaguars from Rams trade for Jalen Ramsey

Ngakoue is unhappy on the franchise tag. The Jaguars add another pass rusher to pair with Josh Allen pick from 2019.

  1. WR Jaelen Reagor WR to Eagles

Reagor gets good separation and the Eagles really needed a WR. Surprised he was picked over Aiyuk and Jefferson.

  1. WR Justin Jefferson to Vikings (from Stegon Diggs trade to Bills)

The Vikings got their guy to replace Stefon Diggs. Jefferson is a great route runner and they hope he has more success than jump ball guy Laquan Treadwell.

  1. ILB Kenneth Murray to Chargers after trade up from pick 37 with Patriots

Typically Patriots. Brooding Belichick trades out of the first round and gains pick 37 and the Chargers 3rd round pick. The Chargers select a good LB in Murray with range and run defense skills.

  1. C/G Cesar Ruiz to Saints

Saints were pretty set on the offensive line but Ruize was the best interior Oline prospect. Bit of a head scratcher but will be a starter one day.

  1. WR Brandon Aiyuk to 49ers after trade up with Vikings

49ers needed a WR with Emmanuel Sanders gone. Aiyuk is a big play threat, good returner but needs to figure out how to beat press coverage. 49ers gave up 4th round they got from earlier Tampa trade and a 5th round pick to Minnesota.

  1. QB Jordan Love to Packers after a trade up with Dolphins! (originally from Laremy Tunsil trade to Texans)

Green Bay shocked the world trading up from 30 to 26 and giving up their 4th round pick for Jordan Love. Favre was 35 when they took Rodgers and Rodgers is now 36. Rodgers has cap hits of 21 million in 2020 but then 31 million in 2021 and 39 million in 2022. Look for some fireworks in 2022 if Love shows ability and Rodgers shows any decline. Aaron can’t be happy.

  1. LB Jordyn Brooks to Seahawks

Seattle loves this guy and they replenish an aging LB group.

  1. ILB Patrick Queen to Ravens

Slam dunk Ravens pick getting a good ILB.

  1. OT Isaiah Wilson to Titans

The Titans lost Jack Conklin in free agency and they replace him with the Georgia right tackle.

  1. CB Noah Igbinoghene to Dolphins after trade down with Packers

Bit of a reach to add the talented Auburn CB with their third first round pick in this draft. You can never have enough CBs though. Dolphins have Xavien Howard, Bryon Jones on big deals so this guy adds talent on a cheap rookie deal.

  1. Jeff Gladney CB to Vikings after trade down with 49ers

The Vikings needed a CB badly and they are Gladney to get this guy. Replaces Waynes or Rhodes.

  1. Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB Chiefs

Chiefs get a starting running back on a cheap rookie deal. It makes sense but they could have added to their defense with Chris Jones on the franchise tag. Glad they didn’t for the Lions sake at 35.

Crazy first round with lots of good filling of needs all-around.
