The draft is fast approaching on April 28. The next installment of the draft prospect series is offensive tackle.
Round 1
Ryan Ramcyzk (Wisconsin)
Ramcyk is 6’6 and 310 pounds and comes from a long line of good Wisconsin offensive lineman. Ramcyk was a DIII player that transferred to Wisconsin. He excelled with the Badgers and is a good technician. However, he had hip surgery in January which may drop his draft value.
Ramcyk is quick and good at getting to the second level. He mirrors well and has long arms for good pass protection. Ryan is inexperienced with only one year of DI football in 2016. He needs to refine his technique but should be a Round 1 player.
Garett Bolles (Utah)
Bolles is an extremely athletic tackle for the Utes. Garrett is 6’5 and 307 pounds with great combine numbers. He has great movement and punch and a nasty streak. He must work on his technique but Bolles has a very high ceiling.
Cam Robinson (Alabama)
Robinson is a massive 6’6 and 322 pounds from Alabama. He has a great frame, footwork and strong when latching onto defenders. He needs to work on his quickness and battling with speed rushers. Robinson had some drug issues but has moved past them. He could be a late first round pick.
Second TIER
Taylor Moton (Western Michigan)
Moton is 6’5 and 319 pounds for the Broncos. Moton is experienced with four years of starting with a good frame. Taylor is athletic and can be a good run blocker as well as pass protector. He is a waist bender and must be better at the point of attack.
Roderick Johnson (Florida State) is also a second tier guy. Cool
Third TIER
Antonio Garcia (Troy), Will Holden (Vandy and terrible name for a tackle), Chad Wheeler (USC), Davis Sharpe (Florida) and Adam Bisnowaty (Pitt) should be day 3 picks.
Needs
The Vikings added two tackles in free agency (Reiff and Remmers) and the Lions locked down their starters with Taylor Decker and Ricky Wagner. Both could upgrade their depth.
The Packers are set with Bakhtiari, Bulaga and Jason Spriggs at tackle. However, depth is an issue if Spriggs starts at guard. Kyle Murphy is a 7th rounder that could provide depth as well. The Bears have Charles Leno and Bobbie Massie. Both could be upgraded but there are no top tier tackles in this draft for Chicago. All four teams could add depth at tackle but it isn’t a huge priority for any North team.
